he original caesar dressing: After 84 years, the creator of the Caesar Salad need a makeover. Cardini’s Salad Dressing recently underwent a label re-design and is proud to introduce 3 new flavors, Light Balsamic Vinaigrette, Light Greek Vinaigrette and Light Caesar Vinaigrette. Caesar’s Place in Tijuana, Mexico was a favorite of Hollywood celebrities. On July 4, 1924, a record numbers of patrons descended on the restaurant. Realizing he would be short of fresh vegetables, Caesar Cardini concocted a salad that awed all of the hungry guests. Thus, the Caesar Salad was born, and word of this masterpiece spread throughout the world. Available in thirteen varieties.

After school ended I accepted a 9-5 job. Cooking became a hobby. Over the years this hobby turned into more of an obsession. I loved creating meals and would come up with any excuse to invite people over for dinner. Countless hours have been spent in the kitchen or hovering over the grill creating great meals and memories with family and friends. SKYR – SIGGI’S YOGURT

Skyr is the traditional yogurt of Iceland. It is made by incubating skim milk with live active cultures. The whey, the water naturally found in milk, is then strained away to make for a much thicker, creamier, concentrated yogurt. So to make just one cup of skyr, with all that water going out, you need 3 – 4 times the amount of milk required to make a regular cup of yogurt. As a result of this process skyr comes out with 2-3 times the protein count of standard yogurt.

GENEVA CRABAPPLE SAUCE

‘This crabapple sauce is more like cranberry sauce than standard applesauce – it is quite tart but also sweet, with very little added sugar.’ The crabapples I use are aromatic & naturally quite high in sugar. I like to eat this sauce as a side dish. Some people like to use it as a coating on roasted meats.

MANICARDI VINEGARS

Balsamic vinegar is the unfermented juice, or “must” of the white trebbiano grape. The juice is boiled down to a sweet, intensely fruity syrup that is then aged is a series of barrels made from various woods including, chestnut, mulberry, juniper, oak and cherry. It is in this manner of aging that imparts the dark color and pungent sweetness to the vinegar. True balsamic vinegar is aged a minimum of six years and is traditionally made in Modena, a city in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Manicardi’s assortment of balsamic vinegars include many different quality levels, which are denoted by a number. The higher the number the better the quality. All Manicardi balsamic’s are d.o.c. vinegars and are produced in their own facility in Modena. Manicardi Balsamic Vinegar #5 is aged mostly in oak barrels which gives this vinegar its distinctive vanilla fragrance. This vinegar is great with vegetables and drizzled on cheese.

Pittsford Dairy (AKA Pittsford Farms Dairy) is a little locally owned dairy, right near the center of Pittsford, (behind Schoen Place). Freshest and creamiest chocolate milk in town. The savory Pie Company began in 1981 when Pam and Keith Pollack owned a pizzeria with their partner Pete on the south shore of Long Island, New York. After selling the pizzeria, Pam and Keith began making pizzas in their Brooklyn apartment and selling them around Manhattan. Shortly after, they bought a home and bakery around the corner and extended their repertoire to include several different kinds of pizzas and Z crackers. The Savory Pie Company recently discontinued the pizzas and expanded their Z cracker distribution from coast to coast!
